I've been writing romances professionally for almost ten years now. When I first published in 2012, author blogs were even hotter than they are. Not that authors don't blog anymore, but it seemed like EVERYONE was blogging back then.
Anyway, when I started my blog, I chose Google's Blogger as my platform. It was free, and I didn't have the patience for WordPress. (it was me; not WordPress that was the problem.)
Blogger was incredibly easy, but now that I've finally got my author website up and running, I've decided to get serious. (Yes, it took me that long to get around to it, but hey, I was writing.) By serious, I mean writing posts - more or less consistently - in a blog that's actually connected to my website.
On a side note: I've been in the marketing profession for more than two decades and a marketing consultant for several years. If I were one of my clients, and I guess I am, the first thing I would tell myself is to use my blog to drive traffic to my site. So, taking my own advice, here I am.
Going forward, here's what you can expect from me:
Posts on what I'm working on.
Book reviews. I try to review everything I read. If I can't give a book at least three stars, I don't finish it.
Marketing tips. Or maybe I should say I'll share what works for me and what doesn't. My day job is in a different industry, so when it comes to marketing books, I'm still a bit of a newbie. But, since so many fellow authors are also aspiring writers, I love to share notes.
Research topics. These are usually more related to my historical romance novels since I do far less research for my sweet contemporary romance stories. (Though, for Smitten, I did ride the El into downtown Chicago just to remind myself which side of the express lanes the tracks were on.)
So, onward and upward, my friends. I look forward to our interactions in the years to come.
Happy reading!
